Wednesday Blaze Destroys Former White Village Restaurant

A major fire Wednesday afternoon destroyed a building that housed the former White Village Restaurant. Fredonia Fire Chief Joshua Myers says the blaze at 5362 Route 5 in the Town of Pomfret was reported just after 12:15 PM. Joshua Myers: sought treatment at an emergency room

Myers tells WDOE News that the structure was vacant at the time of the fire. He adds that while the building was still standing as of Wednesday evening, it is considered to be a total loss. The fire caused a section of Route 5 to shut down for more than four hours. The Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was called to look for the origin and cause of the fire, which is not known at this time. The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office, State Police, County Emergency Services and Alstar Ambulance were also on scene.
