New York State is getting ready to take the next steps in advancing its artificial intelligence safety law. On Monday, Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the state in November will direct large frontier AI developers to register with the state and prepare for compliance with strict requirements on transparency, safety, and incident reporting as prescribed by the RAISE Act. Hochul also announced the appointment of Marc Gilman as the state's Deputy Director for the RAISE Act. She says he will support New York's ongoing implementation of that law. Her announcement follows a one-year moratorium she imposed on hyperscale data centers.
