NYSERDA has announced awards for eight new bulk energy storage projects across New York State, and one of them is in the City of Dunkirk. GCI's planned battery energy storage system on Brigham Road, known as Lighthouse Energy Storage, is among the projects that "reinforces New York's commitment to the development of locally-produced clean energy, energy storage, grid resiliency and economic development," according to NYSERDA. The eight projects, once operational, will add approximately 950 megawatts of new energy storage capacity in the state. The local project is expected to be completed in 2028.
