The Fredonia Central School District this week celebrated the opening of its two new playgrounds at the Wheelock School. On Wednesday, the district held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the playgrounds that are part of Phase 1 of its capital improvement project, which was made possible through the community's approval of Proposition 1 in December 2024. Playground highlights include rubberized playing surfaces, more accessible equipment, and opportunities for both imaginative and active play. The new spaces encourage children to move, discover, and build friendships while developing physical and social skills. Students and staff gathered alongside guests for the celebration.
