The Section VI high school playoffs got off on the right foot for Silver Creek-Forestville. In a game broadcast on Kix Country Thursday evening, the Black Knights scored on all three of their possessions in the first half and went on to defeat Cattaraugus-Little Valley by a 32-16 score at Silver Creek High School.
Silver Creek-Forestville (6-3) started the contest with touchdown drives of 81 and 99 yards. The first march ended when Will Dublia completed a 9-yard pass to Jake Anders for a score. After the Black Knights' defense made a goal-line stand, the offense embarked on a 14-play drive that culminated with a Duliba touchdown run. On the next play from scrimmage, Cattaraugus-Little Valley (0-9) turned the ball over on a botched option toss, and three plays later, Andrew Arnold found paydirt to make the score 20-0. The Timberwolves took some momentum into halftime with a touchdown and two-point conversion on the last play of the first half, closing the gap to 20-8. But the tide turned again when Silver Creek-Forestville made another defensive stand inside their 5-yard line. That led to an eight-play, 96-yard scoring drive, with Arnold bursting for a 57-yard touchdown romp. The Black Knights put the game to bed when Arnold scored his third touchdown of the night with 3:48 remaining.
Andrew Arnold, who got the workload in the backfield in place of Manny Sanchez, racked up 220 yards on 25 carries in addition to his three touchdowns. Will Duliba was efficient in the passing, going 14-for-18 for 171 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Jake Anders led the Black Knights' receiving corps with seven grabs for 84 yards and a score. Tucker Barrick and Blayk Taylor scored touchdowns for Cattaraugus-Little Valley, and Caleb Aguiar led all Timberwolves' receivers with 83 yards on three receptions.
Silver Creek-Forestville will travel to defending Section VI Class D champion Newfane in next week's semifinal round.
