State Police are partnering this week with the New York State Department of Transportation and the New York State Thruway Authority to educate motorists and target aggressive and reckless drivers who endanger highway workers as part of Crash Responder Safety Week, which runs through Friday. Throughout the initiative, troopers will focus on enforcing the Move Over Law to help protect emergency responders, highway workers, tow truck operators and motorists stopped along the roadway. This year's theme, "Slow Down, Move Over. Lives are on the Line!" reminds motorists to remain alert, reduce their speed and move over when safe to protect responders working on or alongside the roadway.
