SUNY Fredonia to Hold Veterans Remembrance Ceremony on Friday

The SUNY Fredonia campus and surrounding communities are invited to attend the university's annual Veterans Day of Remembrance Ceremony on Friday, beginning at 3:30 PM in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room. The longstanding tradition is to honor, remember, and express deepest gratitude to the countless men and women who have served the country through the U.S. Armed Forces. The ceremony will feature reflections from veterans and student speakers, as well as the presentation of over $3,700 in Fredonia Veterans Scholarships to students connected to the veteran community.

To recognize the sacrifices, service, and dedication of the nation's veterans, organizers invite students, faculty, staff, alumni, veterans, military families, and community members to join the group in a meaningful observance.

The scholarships, created through endowments established through the Fredonia College Foundation, are the following:

  • The Dr. Greg and Pam Gibbs Sons and Daughters of Veterans Scholarship, awarded earlier this semester to Andrew Shilling.
  • The Courage and Honor Scholarship to Aaron LoGuidice, a sophomore business administration and finance major from Great Valley.
  • The Ronald L and Marilyn M. Denison Scholarship to Brodie Loftus, a senior business administration and finance major from Springville.
  • The Fredonia Veterans Scholarship to Victoria Baran, a graduate student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program from Dewittville.
  • The Fredonia Veterans Scholarship to Luis Fernandez, a senior animation/illustration and foreign languages major originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico.
