Two committees of the Chautauqua County Legislature will be taking up a measure that would authorize an agreement to have the County Sheriff's Office prvide enhanced police services in the village of Silver Creek. WDOE News has learned that both the Public Safety and Audit and Control Committees will take up the proposal next week. County Sheriff Joseph Gerace tells WDOE News that they would handle law enforcement duties in the village on a 24-7 basis and there would be some extra coverage for special events. The agreement, retroactive to June 1st, would continue through December of 2014. The village would make quarterly payments to the county of $91,300 in 2013 and $94,400 in 2014.
