A state official from the Cuomo Administration came to the SUNY Fredonia campus to promote the Governor's proposed Tax Free NY program. The proposal would create tax free communities that include the 64 SUNY campuses across the state and up to 200,000 square feet adjoining the campus. Leecia Eve, Deputy Secretary for Economic Development, says they are targeting two groups.

Eve says the state is also trying to attract businesses from outside state including other nations.

Eve did not give a lot of specifics how the program would affect the Fredonia campus and whether it would include the Technology Incubator in Dunkirk because the legislation was still being worked out. She did say state officials were well aware of the facility on Central Avenue in Dunkirk. The Cuomo administration is pushing to get the program approved by the legislature before the current session ends in four-and-a-half weeks.
