Dunkirk city lawmakers have approved a salary increase for City Assessor Tom Mleczko. The Common Council by a 4-1 vote approved the pay increase of $720. Councilwoman-at-Large Stephanie Kiyak, who cast the only no vote, felt the financial timing for the increase was not appropriate.

Fourth Ward Councilwoman Stacy Szukala was among the four council members who supported the pay raise.

The increase will raise the assessor's salary to $36,720 starting in 2014.
