Rose P. (Panek) Hafner, 87, of Fredonia entered into rest on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. She was born on September 24, 1938 in Forestville to her late parents, Michael and Lilian (Gawronski) Panek.
Rose graduated from Forestville Central School and went on to work for the Chautauqua County Home in Dunkirk as a cook.
She enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, visiting Florida and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Rose is survived by her children, Cynthia (Hobart) D'Amico and Susan (Michael) Suppo; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Joe) Dawson, Penny (Ben) D'Amico and Vanessa Stevens; her great-grandchildren, Sydne (Hunter) Rizzo, Alex Daniels, Nataleya Valle, Natalyz Valle and Jeremiah DeJesus; her great-great-grandchildren, Sophia Rizzo, Secilia Rizzo and one on the way; her siblings, Rita Lathrop and Donald Panek; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, Rose was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Hafner; and her siblings, Richard Panek, Theresa Schmidt, Walter Panek and Nancy Panek.
Relatives and friends may visit the Morse Funeral Home, 19 East Main Street in Brocton on Saturday, February 22 from 10:00-11:00 AM. A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home, with Pastor Larry Morrison officiating. Burial will be held in the spring at Portland Evergreen Cemetery.
