He was very close and proud of his great-nieces and great-nephews, William (Crystal) Buchholz, Lauren (Mike) Nelson, Megan (Nick) DeJoe, Shelby (Shon) Russell, T.J. Braidich, Brianna Braidich, Victoria (Nick) Mays and their young children, Ellie and Dean DeJoe, Jeremiah Buchholz, Blair Nelson and Gianna Mays. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Walter and Norris "Buddy" Lawton; and two sisters, Beverly Sandell and Patricia Braidich, whom he was especially close to and was considered his "partner in crime."

A Celebration of Life will be held a later date.
