Sunday Sports Update
Top: The Gold Anniversary Super Bowl should have a golden matchup of contrasting quarterbacks -- a classic dropback passer in Peyton Manning against modern-day dual threat Cam Newton. Super Bowl 50 might be the last game in Manning's 17-year NFL career, while league MVP Newton is entering his prime. The Carolina Panthers are currently 6-point favorites to beat the Denver Broncos.
Bottom left: Brett Favre, one of the NFL's legendary gunslingers, headlines a class of eight new inductees into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Favre, who played 20 NFL seasons and led the Packers to two Super Bowl appearances in the 1990s, retired after the 2010 season as the all-time record holder in categories that include completions, passing attempts, passing yards, touchdown passes, most wins, and most consecutive games started.
Bottom right: Kansas State guard Barry Brown leads a celebration during his team's upset of the top ranked college hoops team in the country. On Saturday, the unranked Wildcats defeated #1 Oklahoma 80-69. The win for K-State is expected to shake up next week's rankings, along with Notre Dame's upset of #2 North Carolina.
