Top left: Fredonia High School's Vince Gullo slides in safely during the school's home baseball opener Friday afternoon against Chautauqua Lake. The Hillbillies did not have much trouble with the Thunderbirds, winning 15-1. Fredonia's crosstown counterparts also rolled to a home blowout win, with Dunkirk defeating Falconer 16-4. Top right: Jessica Wilcox pitched a gem on Friday against Frewsburg. The senior surrendered just one hit and struck out 17 batters in a victory over Frewsburg. The 2-0 victory was about as tight of a pitcher's duel as a game could get; Frewsburg's pitcher, MaKena Adams, pitched a no-hitter and struck out 12. Photo by the Observer
Bottom left: Andrew Shaw of the Chicago Blackhawks celebrates after scoring a controversial goal late in the 3rd period of Game 2 of their Western Conference playoff series against St. Louis. The goal put Chicago ahead for the good, and and the Blackhawks added an empty netter to beat the Blues 3-2 and even up that series at 1-1.
Bottom right: Lots of eyes, particularly those of the Houston Rockets, will be focused this afternoon on the most electrifying point in the NBA. Stephen Curry will look to begin Golden State's quest for a second straight championship when he and the Warriors battle the Rockets on the first day of the NBA Playoffs.
