Sunday Sports Update
Top left: A state championship? Not a bad way to spend a weekend on the other state of the state. Chautauqua Lake High School's softball team did just that on Saturday in South Glens Falls. The Lady Thunderbirds defeated Greenville 2-0 in the Class C state semfinals, then later in the day, knocked off Pine Plains 9-3 to win the title. Coach Susan Teets will have another team to watch out for next season, with only one senior graduating this year.
Top right: The King of Clay has no plans on abdicating his Parisian throne. Rafael Nadal had another dominant showing at this year's French Open, and he capped off the tournament today with a 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 victory over Austrian youngster Dominic Thiem. The Spaniard has now won 11 championships at Roland Garros and 18 Grand Slam tennis titles overall. Image by NBC Sports
Bottom: The Triple Crown is the most daunting challenge in horse racing. Before Saturday's Belmont Stakes, only 12 horses had successfully won all three legs of the Triple Crown; the last one was American Pharoah in 2015. Another horse was able to...well, justify becoming the 13th horse to pull off the feat. Watch Justify's entire Triple Crown-winning race from the Belmont Stakes! Video by NBC Sports
