Saturday Sports Update

Top left: Do the New York Yankees have another young star in the making on the mound?  23-year-old Jonathan Loaisiga, a native of Nicaragua, made his Major League Baseball debut on Friday and gave up three hits in five shutout innings.  The Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 5-0 at Yankee Stadium.  Photo by USA Today

Top right: It's U.S. Open week, and that usually means there will be very few players under par.  Dustin Johnson is the only player under par at the halfway point.  He fired a 67 on Friday to get to -4 through two rounds at Shinnecock Hills.  He enters the weekend with a four-stroke lead.  Photo by USA Today

Bottom: Soccer's biggest stars on the world's biggest stage.  Friday's World Cup action in Russia included a thrilling 3-3 draw between Portugal and Spain.  Cristiano Ronaldo (left) scored all three of Portugal's goals, including a free kick in the 88th minute that salvaged the draw.  Meanwhile, Lionel Messi (right) had a penalty kick saved in the second half today, as his Argentina side was held to a 1-1 draw with Iceland.  Photos by USA Today and Reuters
