Gardner, who is the only player remaining on the team from the Yankees' last World Series title in 2009, homered and drove in three runs as the Bronx Bombers defeated the Blue Jays 8-5. Bottom left: Croatia begins celebrating after winning their quarterfinal matchup with host nation Russia at the World Cup on Saturday. The game went into a penalty shootout after the two sides were tied 1-1 after regulation and 2-2 after 30 minutes of extra time. Bottom right: There's a new head coach at Dunkirk High School, and he'll be coaching the girls basketball team. Ken Ricker was hired Thursday to take over a Lady Marauders program that took a giant step from one win two seasons ago to a Section VI championship game last season. Ricker compiled 141 wins in over six seasons as girls basketball coach in Jamestown, winning three Section VI Class AA titles during that run. Photo by the Post-Journal
