Saturday Sports Update
Top: High school football is back! Dunkirk began the 2018 season with a decisive 58-14 victory over Eden on Friday at Karl Koeppner Field. Quantavis Kleckley (left) ran for three touchdowns and 183 yards on only six carries to spearhead the Marauders' offense. Meanwhile, the defense forced four turnovers and registered three sacks. Koty Leeper (right) helped force one of those turnovers in the 1st quarter as he chased down Eden quarterback Colton Stetz. The resulting hit led to a fumble recovery for a touchdown by Peyton Moreland. Photos by Ron Szot
Bottom left: Quantavis Kleckley wasn't the only local player to have a three-touchdown day on Friday! Fredonia senior Joell Lozano had a big game of his own against Newfane. Lozano ran for 131 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries and also had a 29-yard touchdown catch on the last play of the first half. The Billies won 20-7. Photo by the Observer
Bottom right: It looks like Khalil Mack's days in the silver and black are over. Multiple reports this morning indicated that the Oakland Raiders have a deal in place to trade the outside linebacker to the Chicago Bears, with the Raiders reportedly asking for two 1st-round draft picks. Mack, the 5th overall pick of the 2014 draft out of Buffalo, has 40.5 sacks in four NFL seasons. Photo by USA Today
