Sunday Sports Update
Top left: What does a quarterback get after engineering a big preseason comeback victory? In the case of A.J. McCarron, it amounts to getting traded. McCarron, who led the Bills back from a 25-point deficit to beat the Chicago Bears in Thursday's preseason finale, was traded to the Oakland Raiders on Saturday in exchange for a 5th-round draft pick on 2019. The move was made as the Bills trimmed their roster down to 53 players before Saturday's deadline. Image from buffalobills.com
Top right: A new college football season, but a familiar outcome for top-ranked Alabama. On Saturday, the Crimson Tide began defense of their national championship with a 51-14 drubbing of Louisville. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who made a name for himself in last year's national champioship game, threw for 227 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another touchdown in the victory. And on Saturday, his call for Gleyber Torres couldn't be more appropriate, consider the weekend -- "It's Gleyber Day! And like a good Gleyber, Torres is there!" Gleyber Torres hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 5th, one of only two Yankees hits on the day, as the Bronx Bombers beat the Detroit Tigers 2-1. Photo by Newsday
