Sunday Sports Update

Top left: What does a quarterback get after engineering a big preseason comeback victory?  In the case of A.J. McCarron, it amounts to getting traded.  McCarron, who led the Bills back from a 25-point deficit to beat the Chicago Bears in Thursday's preseason finale, was traded to the Oakland Raiders on Saturday in exchange for a 5th-round draft pick on 2019.  The move was made as the Bills trimmed their roster down to 53 players before Saturday's deadline.  Image from buffalobills.com

Top right: A new college football season, but a familiar outcome for top-ranked Alabama.  On Saturday, the Crimson Tide began defense of their national championship with a 51-14 drubbing of Louisville.  Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who made a name for himself in last year's national champioship game, threw for 227 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another touchdown in the victory.  Photo by USA Today

Bottom left: John Sterling always comes up with memorable home run calls for New York Yankees players.  And on Saturday, his call for Gleyber Torres couldn't be more appropriate, consider the weekend -- "It's Gleyber Day!  And like a good Gleyber, Torres is there!"  Gleyber Torres hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 5th, one of only two Yankees hits on the day, as the Bronx Bombers beat the Detroit Tigers 2-1.  Photo by Newsday

Bottom right: Action is underway today in the 4th round of the U.S. Open, the final Grand Slam event of the tennis season.  Top men's seed Rafael Nadal, who survived a tough four-setter in Round 3, is among the competitors on the hard courts today in New York City.  Photo by USA Today
