Saturday Sports Update
Top: The power running game had been the key to Dunkirk's success this high school football season. On Friday against Alden, it was the defense's turn to shine. Earl Stewart (left) intercepted a pass on the goal line to end an Alden drive and later returned a fumble for a touchdown. Conrad Thomas (right) also ran back a fumble for a score, one play after Stewart scored his TD. The Marauders went on to win 47-6 to improve to 3-0 on the season. Photos by Ron Szot
Bottom left: Not to be outdone by their crosstown counterparts, the Fredonia Hillbillies got a blowout of their own, as their barrage of big play caused the sun to set on Eden's chances of victory. Fredonia won 50-13 behind a 242-yard, three-touchdown performance from Joell Colon and three interceptions on defense by Raziel Pearl. Photo by the Eden Central School District

Jafarjian ran for 45 yards and a touchdown to lead the Thunderbirds to a 16-0 shutout of last year's Section VI Class D champions. Photo by the Post-Journal
