Saturday Sports Update -- October 13, 2018

Fredonia gets a statement win over Dunkirk...Sabres get ready to face the 'Yotes...and the Brewers strike first in the NLCS.  More details from Greg Larson on today's Saturday Sports Update...

Saturday Sports Update

Top: Friday night marked the 126th time that Dunkirk and Fredonia met on the high school gridiron, but it was the first time in 44 years that they faced each other as undefeated teams.  Quantavis Kleckley (left) ran for 173 yards and a touchdown to lead the Marauders, but it wasn't enough to overcome the big plays created by the Hillbillies.  Joell Colon (right) had touchdown runs of 57 and 60 yards and finished the night with 201 yards on the ground to help lead Fredonia to a 35-6 victory at the Orange Bowl.  With the win, Fredonia won its first division title in five years and will be guaranteed home field for the first two round of the Section VI Class B playoffs.  Photos by Ron Szot

Bottom left: Here's something you don't see every day -- a lefty pitcher hitting a home run off another left pitcher!  In fact, it's never happened in MLB postseason play...until Friday night.  Milwaukee reliever Brandon Woodruff launched one deep of Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw Friday night in Game 1 of the NLCS to help spark the Brewers to a 6-5 victory at Miller Park.  Photo by USA Today

Bottom right: Some bad news for the New York Yankees.  The team announced Friday that shortstop Didi Gregorius will be undergoing Tommy John surgery and will miss part of the 2019 season.  An MRI on Thursday revealed a torn ligament in his right elbow, believed to have occurred during Game 2 of the Yankees' playoff series with the Boston Red Sox.  Photo by USA Today
