Saturday Sports Update
Top: As one of our Facebook followers said this morning, Dunkirk-Fredonia rivalry games are meant to be close and down to the wire. Until Friday, it wasn't that way during this basketball season. In girls action, Kelly Gullo (left) hit a pair of late three-pointers to tie the game at 41-41 with less than 30 seconds to play. But Nadara O'dell (right) made sure Dunkirk had the last laugh, as she hit a wide open layup with 21 seconds left to give the Lady Marauders a 43-41 victory. Photos by the Observer
Bottom left: C.J. Massinburg has a habit of carrying the University at Buffalo basketball team on his back. On Friday, Massinburg scored 26 points in UB's road game at Bowling Green. However, it wasn't enough, as the Bulls lost their second game in MAC play, falling 92-88. Photo by the University at Buffalo
Bottom right: Kyle Okposo was one of the bright spots for the Buffalo Sabres in what was a disappointing showing by the team on Friday. His power play goal in the 3rd period got the Sabres within one goal, but that's as close as they would get in a 7-3 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks at the KeyBank Center. Photo by the Buffalo Sabres
