Sunday Sports Update
Top left: Josh Allen hasn't exactly been the flashiest of quarterbacks in the NFL through the first two weeks of the season. However, he has led the Buffalo Bills to a 2-0 start with wins over the Jets and Giants. Today, Allen will look to lead the Bills to another win, as they face the Cincinnati Bengals at New Era Field. A win would signal the team's first 3-0 start since 2011. Tune in to WDOE (94.9 FM/1410 AM) for all the action, with kickoff at 1:00 PM! Photo by the Buffalo Bills
Top right: Speaking of players who aren't flashy...Fredonia High School's Jake Skinner had himself a day against Falconer-Cassadaga Valley on Saturday. Skinner had 95 yards from scrimmage, with about half of that total coming on the game's biggest play. The senior hauled in a 47-yard reception on 3rd and 12 to set up the go-ahead touchdown for the Billies, which came with 4:14 remaining. Fredonia held on for an 18-14 victory to improve to 2-1. Bottom: Remember the Philly Special in Super Bowl LII? Well, that trick play emerged on the college gridiron on Saturday that led to an upset of the 15th-ranked team in the nation. On a play that's already been dubbed the "Pittsburgh Special," Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett caught a touchdown pass with under a minute to play to take down Central Florida 35-34.
