Saturday Sports Update

Top: Fredonia and Portville battled in the Orange Bowl on Friday for a chance at clinching a spot in the Class C playoffs.  Fredonia's Jake Skinner (left) tried doing his part to will the Billies back from a 20-0 halftime deficit; he finished with 69 rushing yards and 46 receiving yards and a touchdown on the night.  However, Portville's Jayden Lassiter (right) proved to be too much for Fredonia to handle.  Lassiter ran for 174 yards and three touchdowns as the Panthers won 20-6.  Photos by Ron Szot

Bottom right: Anibal Sanchez pitched a gem for the Washington Nationals in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series. On Friday at Busch Stadium, Sanchez allowed only one hit, which came with two outs in the bottom of the 8th inning, as the Nationals shut out the St. Louis Cardinals 2-0.  Photo by USA Today
