Saturday Sports Update
Top: The Buffalo Sabres returned to action for the first time in nearly a week on Friday, as they faced the Tampa Bay Lightning in the NHL's third annual Global Series in Stockholm, Sweden. Linus Ullmark (left) made 31 saves in net, while Sam Reinhart scored a pair of goals for the Sabres. However, it wasn't enough, as the Sabres lost 3-2. The two teams are back at it again today. Bottom left: LSU vs. Alabama was billed as a 1-vs.-2 matchup at the beginning of the week before the first College Football Playoff rankings of the season put Ohio State at number 1. But that does little to take the luster of what will be the most anticipated college football game of the season. The 2nd-ranked Tigers and the 3rd-ranked Crimson Tide will be clashing this afternoon in Tuscaloosa. Photo by USA Today
Bottom right: Tori Spacc has had a remarkable season so far for Fredonia High School, and on Friday, she added to it with a Section VI swimming title. On Friday at the Class B championship meet, Spacc broke her own school record by clocking in a 1:07.28 in the 100m breaststroke event. She will be on her way to the state championships.
