Sunday Sports Update
Top: The last time the Kansas City Chiefs won a Super Bowl, they beat the Minnesota Vikings 50 years ago in the last Super Bowl before the AFL-NFL merger. The wait for a title hasn't been quite as long for the San Francisco 49ers, as it has been 25 years since Steve Young and Jerry Rice lit up the San Diego Chargers. Tonight in Miami, one of these two franchises will hoist the Lombardi Trophy and put an end to their championship drought. WDOE (94.9 FM/1410 AM) will have wall-to-wall coverage of Super Bowl LIV, starting at 2:00 PM with an extended pregame show, leading up to kickoff from Hard Rock Stadium at 6:30 PM. The five players from the modern era who make up that class are (from front to back) Troy Polamalu, Isaac Bruce, Edgerrin James, Steve Atwater, and Steve Hutchinson. Bottom right: Buffalo Sabres superstar Jack Eichel ended Thursday's game against the Montreal Canadiens by smashing his stick against the goalpost after the team gave up an empty-net goal late in the 3rd period, a symbol of the team's frustration this season. On Saturday, Eichel was in a more celebratory mood, as he scored the game-winning goal 36 seconds into overtime to beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1 at the KeyBank Center. Image by MSG
