Saturday Sports Update

Dunkirk scored twice on the ground and was deadlocked in a 12-12 game in the 3rd quarter, but the Purple Eagles scored 14 unanswered points in the quarter to pull away for a 26-12 victory and drop Dunkirk's record to 0-3. Braidich, who will be playing at the FCS level for Wagner College in the fall, totaled 140 yards from scrimmage and scored a touchdown for the Black Knights. It wasn't nearly enough for his team, though, as Portville dominated by a 62-14 score at Dunkirk's Karl Hoeppner Field. Photo by Ron Szot
Bottom: The New York Yankees are off to a rough start to the 2021 Major League Baseball season, and they did not have much to smile about on Friday in the Bronx. Nick Nelson (left) struggled to get through the 1st inning on the mound, while Aaron Judge (right) went 0-for-4 for two strikeouts as the Yankees lost 8-2 to the Tampa Bay Rays. At 5-8, New York currently has the worst record in the American League, the first time that has happened since April 1998. Photos by Newsday
