Top: Differing scenes at both ends of New York State on Friday. While the opening game of the Subway Series between the Yankees and Mets was rained out (left), the Toronto Blue Jays were putting the hammer down on the Tampa Bay Rays in Buffalo. George Springer (right) was one of three Blue Jays to homer in an 11-1 victory. Bottom right: Ken Ricker is making a return to the Section VI scene in girls basketball. Ricker announced this week that he will be the head coach of the Jamestown Lady Red Raiders program for the 2021-2022 season. It won't be his first time in Jamestown, with Ricker last coaching there in 2012. Ricker spent the 2021 season as coach the JCC women's basketball program. Before that, he coached Dunkirk for two seasons, including a 24-1 record in 2019-2020 that included the school's first sectional title in 29 years. Photo by Ron Szot
