Top left: The Buffalo Sabres on Saturday officially announced that they have traded forward Sam Reinhart to the Florida Panthers, ending a seven-year stint for Reinhart in Buffalo. In return, the Sabres received a 1st-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, plus goalie Devon Levi. Reinhart tallied 134 goals and 161 assists in a Sabres uniform; last season, he tied a career high with 25 goals. File photo
Top right: New York Yankees second baseman Rougned Odor heads toward first base after hitting a game-tying two-run double in the top of the 8th inning against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Bottom left: After failing to win a single medal on Day 1 of the Tokyo Olympics, the United States cleaned house on Day 2. Team USA began the day with six medals in swimming; the first two went to Jay Litherland (left) and Chase Kalisz (right) in the men's 400-meter individual medley. Bottom right: Phil Messina was one of a bevy of Dunkirk High School players who earned CCAA Division 1 West all-star honors for the 2021 baseball season. This week, Messina was named the league's Player of the Year after hitting .491 with 24 RBI on a team that finished with a 16-4 overall record. Four other Dunkirk players -- Alex Ahlstrom, Javier DeJesus, Donovan Lockett and Mike Norton -- made the league's First Team, while Nick Zatorski and Scott Zorzenski earned Second Team honors.
