Saturday Sports Update
Top: The Section VI football playoffs begin tonight for Fredonia. The undefeated Hillbillies, led by players like senior Matt Lotter (left), will face Akron in the Class C quarterfinals, with kickoff slated for 7:00 PM in Dunkirk. The winner of that contest will host Southwestern next week; on Friday, Aidan Kennedy (right) and the Trojans erased an early 15-point deficit and knocked off Depew 26-21. Bottom right: Buffalo Sabres center Cody Eakin practiced on Friday, but it appears that he will miss a fifth straight game on Sunday. Sabres head coach Don Granato told reporters after practice that he doesn't think Sunday is "an option" for Eakin, who has been out since October 21st with an upper body injury.
