Top left: The Buffalo Sabres haven't had center Casey Mittelstadt in their lineup for almost three weeks, but that is going to change today. Sabres head coach Don Granato announced Friday that Mittlelstadt will be making his first appearance for the Sabres in today's home game against the Colorado Avalanche, the team the Sabres last faced when Mittelstadt last played on January 30th. He has appeared in only seven games this season due to an upper-body injury. Photo by the Buffalo Sabres

Bottom: The high school basketball season is winding down, and a few local teams had their final tune-up Friday night before the Section VI playoffs, which get underway on Tuesday. In Silver Creek, sophomore Ray Cortes (left) scored 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Black Knights defeated Dunkirk 71-51. Also picking up a nonleague win were the Westfield girls (right), as they defeated visiting Cassadaga Valley 65-41.
