Yankees continue to stretch their big lead atop the AL East...Sabres make eight picks on Day 2 of the NHL Draft...and Kazakhstan has its first ever Grand Slam tennis champion.  More details from Greg Larson on today's Saturday Sports Update...

Saturday Sports Update

Top: Friday's game between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox had a lot to offer, as the two teams battled for nearly four hours at Fenway Park.  For the Yankees, their high-powered offense was only display.  A three-run home run by Josh Donaldson (left) put the Yankees up 4-0 early, and they went on to win 12-5.  The most talked about moment of the game was what appeared to be a routine fly ball off the bat of Joey Gallo in the top of the 3rd inning.  However, it was all but routine for Red Sox right fielder Christian Arroyo (right), who could not see the ball, which wound up landing near the warning track for a two-run triple.  Images by the New York Yankees and NESN

Bottom left: The Buffalo Sabres made a total of 11 selections during the two-day NHL Draft, which ended Friday.  The Sabres selected eight forwards, two defensemen, and one goalie; the goalie they went with was Topias Leinonen (top row, far right), who helped lead Finland to a bronze medal at this year's Under-18 World Hockey Championship. Sabres General Manager Kevyn Adams told reporters after the draft that he was planning to choose a goalie at some point during the two days.  Graphic by the Buffalo Sabres

Bottom right: Elena Rybakina has emerged from the pack as this year's women's champion at Wimbledon.  In a matchup of first-time Grand Slam finalists, Rybakina rallied to defeat Ons Jabeur 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 at the All-England Club today to become the first ever player from Kazakhstan to win a Grand Slam title.  Photo by the All-England Club
