Top left: Matt Carpenter had himself a night against the Boston Red Sox on Saturday. He hit a pair of three-run home runs and tallied seven RBI in a 14-1 win for the New York Yankees. The former St. Louis Cardinal has proven himself to be a key acquisition for the Yanks this season, hitting .360 with 13 homers and 31 RBI since they acquired him in late May. Top right: Juan Soto is going to be a target for contending MLB teams in the coming weeks. On Saturday, multiple reports indicated that the Washington Nationals slugger rejected a 15-year, $440 million offer from the team, which would have been the biggest contract in MLB history. Soto, an All-Star outfielder, is hitting .250 with 19 homers and 42 RBI for the Nationals, who have the worst record in baseball. Image by the Washington Nationals
Bottom left: Rory McIlroy (left) and Viktor Hovland (right) surged into a share of the lead on Saturday at the British Open. Both shot a 66 in Round 3 at St. Andrews and began today with a four-stroke lead at -16. McIlroy's round included a chip-in for eagle out of a bunker on the 10th hole. Bottom right: She was a key component of Dunkirk High School's girls basketball program for five years. Now, Kymi Nance is taking her talents to the Division 1 level. This week, Nance announced that she will be playing college basketball for the University of Hartford after spending the past two seasons at Jamestown Community College. Nance, who is Dunkirk's all-time leading scorer, helped lead the Lady Marauders to a 24-1 record and Section VI title in 2020.
