Sunday Sports Update
Top: The New York Yankees have had a very hard time producing at the plate this month, but on Saturday, they only needed one. And Billy McKinney (left) provided it with a solo homer in the bottom of the 4th inning in a 1-0 victory over the Texas Rangers. The Bronx Bombers are in dire need of an offensive spark without captain Aaron Judge (right), who has been on the team's injured list since June 6th after suffering a foot injury. Judge told reporters Saturday that he has a torn ligament in his right big toe and is experiencing pain when he walks. At this time, there is no timetable for his return. Photos by USA Today
Bottom left: Game 1 of the College World Series final was also decided by a solo home run. Unlike McKinney's homer, this one came late in the game. Cade Beloso's blast in the top of the 11th inning was the difference as LSU defeated Florida 4-3. The Tigers can clinch the national championship with a win today in Game 2. Bottom right: The New York Knicks are looking to keep the services of a key rotational player. On Saturday, the Knicks and Josh Hart agreed to extend a deadline for Hart's $12.9 million player option until Thursday, according to a report from ESPN. Hart scored 10.2 points and grabbed 7.0 rebounds per game since arriving in New York in a mid-season trade from Portland. Photo by USA Today
