An Ashville man was arrested last Friday on a handful of charges following a traffic stop on East Summit Avenue in the Village of Lakewood. Lakewood-Busti Police say they stopped 33-year-old Tyler Bemis at about 2:00 PM for multiple traffic infractions and found he was allegedly driving without insurance. Further investigation found that Bemis was allegedly in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine and that he was consuming cannabis inside the car. Bemis is charged with 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, consumption of marijuana inside a motor vehicle, operating without insurance, having an uninspected vehicle, and having an illegal front windshield. He was issued appearance tickets for Busti Town Court and released.
