A Jamestown man faces several charges after he allegedly assaulted a police officer during a traffic stop on the city's north side Monday evening. Jamestown Police were patrolling the area of Lakeview Avenue and Crossman Street at about 6:15 PM, when they saw a vehicle driven by 35-year-old Marcus McAffee. Officers knew that McAffee's driving privileges are suspended in New York State, and they pulled the vehicle over. McAffee refused to get out of the vehicle after officers made multiple verbal commands, and he was eventually forced out of the vehicle. McAffee then allegedly began to actively fight with officers and bit one of them on the hand. He was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. McAffee was held pending arraignment on charges of 2nd-degree assault, 2nd-degree obstruction, resisting arrest, 3rd-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, and several traffic tickets.
