Fredonia Village Board Approves 2025-2026 Budget

Village of Fredonia residents will see their property taxes jump by almost 66% for this upcoming fiscal year. That after trustees adopted the 2025-2026 budget during Monday's Village Board meeting. The vote on the approximately $12.8 million spending plan was 3-2, with Jon Espersen, Ben Brauchler and Nicole Siracuse voting in favor of it. Paul Wandel: want to table it for further discussion

Michelle Twichell seconded Wandel's motion. However, that motion failed by a 3-2 vote. Trustees also approved a local law to override the state tax cap. The vote on that measure was 4-1, with Twichell the lone opponent. The 2025-2026 spending plan contains a property tax rate of $61.29 per thousand, a 65.9% increase from the current fiscal year.
