A man who was known to have active warrants from the Jamestown Police Department was taken into custody after a physical altercation with police officers early Tuesday evening. Jamestown Police and the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office were working a GIVE hotspot patrol on the city's east side shortly after 6:00 PM and saw 59-year-old Darrin Pangborn in the area. When officers tried to arrest Pangborn, he allegedly grabbed an open pocket knife and raised it up in an aggressive manner towards them. Pangborn was charged with menacing a police officer, 3rd-degree criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest, in addition to his warrants. He was held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.
