Man Dies, Deputy Injured in Officer-Involved Shooting in Mina

One person is dead, while a Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputy suffered minor injuries during an officer-involved shooting Wednesday afternoon in the Town of Mina. Chautauqua County Sheriff Jim Quattrone, who gave an update during a press conference at the Findley Lake Fire Hall, says his deputies responded to a report of a domestic incident on Mina-French Creek Road shortly after 3:30 PM. Jim Quattrone: multiple agencies investigating
The identity of the gunman has not been released at this time, but Quattrone described him as a middle-aged, white male. He added that the injured deputy is being treated at an Erie hospital. Firefighters from Clymer, Sherman and Findley Lake responded to the scene, along with Chautauqua County EMS and State Police.
UPDATE: In a press release Thursday evening, Quattrone identified the deceased male as 66-year-old Mark Bemis.
