A Jamestown man who was convicted of a federal methamphetamine charge from a February 2024 domestic incident will be spending time behind bars. U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced Tuesday that 19-year-old Raymond Medina has been sentenced to four years in prison for possession with intent to distribute meth. The sentence was the result of an investigation by the Jamestown Police Department and the DEA.
Jamestown Police were called to an undisclosed residence on the city's north side for a domestic incident during the evening of February 28, 2024. There, the resident had a valid order of protection against Medina. On arrival, officers saw Medina leave the residence. He immediately became argumentative and began to back away. When officers tried to detain him, Medina pulled away. He was advised to stop, but Medina refused and yelled, "I don't got nothing bro." Medina was apparently reaching towards his waistband, and then he fled on foot. Officers deployed a taser with negative results. A perimeter was set up, and officers used footprints in the snow and a K-9 to track Medina, who was located balled up on the ground behind a shed, attempting to conceal himself. He was taken into custody without further incident. Along the route that Media fled, officers recovered a quantity of suspected methamphetamine packaged for individual sale.
