An inmate at the Chautauqua County Jail has been charged with a felony after he allegedly struck a corrections officer in the face. The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division received a complaint of the incident at the jail at about 7:30 AM Monday. Investigators were told that the inmate -- later identified as 27-year-old Qumane Santiago -- tried to injure the officer in an effort to prevent him from carrying out his official duties. Santiago was arraigned on a charge of 2nd-degree attempted assault and will appear in Chautauqua Town Court at a later date.
