
New York State continues to see very little change in its seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, but the number of private sector jobs across the state has declined for the second month in a row. According to preliminary statistics from the State Department of Labor, the jobless rate held constant at 4.6% during the month of April, while the private sector job count fell by 10,200. Also, the state's seasonally adjusted labor force decreased by 14,300, and the labor force participation rate inched down to 61.7%.
