A Jamestown woman faces several charges after she was found asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle on the city's south side early Wednesday morning. Jamestown Police were called to the parking lot of the Tops Markets in the Foote Avenue Plaza shortly after 4:15 AM. Officers determined that 44-year-old Tonya Thwing was allegedly under the influence of drugs while driving the vehicle. When they tried to arrest Thwing, she allegedly pulled away and failed to comply with verbal commands. After a brief struggle, Thwing was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where an inventory of her property found that she allegedly possessed a quantity of methamphetamine packaged for sale, hydrocodone and alprazolam that were not prescribed to her, and drug paraphernalia. Thwing was held pending arraignment on a felony count of 5th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, as well as 2nd-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, and driving while ability impaired by drugs.
