Fredonia continued its path forward in the Section VI high school softball playoffs on Thursday with another victory via the mercy rule on its home field. In a game broadcast on WDOE, the Lady Hillbillies needed just five innings to dispatch visiting Roy-Hart by a 13-1 score in the Class B quarterfinals.
Fredonia (16-3) jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a two-out, two-run single by McKenna Crawford in the bottom of the 1st inning. That advantage grew to 6-0 by the end of the 2nd inning; Jenna Fryberger capped that rally with a two-run home run. In the 3rd inning, six more runs crossed the plate for Fredonia on seven hits, including an Ava Muck triple. Roy-Hart (10-6) got a run back in the top of the 4th, but that's all the Lady Rams could muster. Naomi Muck led off the bottom of the 5th with a triple, then scored on a Fryberger ground ball to end the contest.
Naomi Muck and Giavanna Muscarella each went 3-for-3 at the plate; Muck drove in two runs and also scored four times. Anna Delcamp added two hits, and Jenna Fryberger drove in three runs in the win. McKella Hodkin contributed an RBI offensively, and in the circle, she allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out seven.
The Lady Billies will stay on their home field for the Class B semifinals on Tuesday, May 26th, when they host Tonawanda.
