
A Mayville man was arrested and faces several drug related charges after driving with a revoked driver's license. On Monday around 5:00PM, Deputies with the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for an observed traffic violation on Parker Rd in the Town of Chautauqua. The operator was identified as 36-year-old James Mawhir, and further investigation found that Mawhir was operating with a revoked driver's license. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed that Mawhir was allegedly in possession of 19.4 grams of methamphetamine, 4 grams of fentanyl, a quantity of pills of controlled substances, and other drug paraphernalia including scales, packaging material, and $679.50. Mawhir was taken into custody and charged with the traffic violations, 2nd-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, 3 counts of misdemeanor 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and 2 counts of felony 4th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and 2 counts of felony 3rd-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Mawhir was arranged at the Chautauqua County Jail.
