New Community Playspace Opens at Point Gratiot Park

A new community playspace in Dunkirk's Point Gratiot Park is now open for area children and families. On Friday, the ribbon was cut on the Discovery Way at the Point after dozens of volunteers worked on the project over the course of four days. Revitalize Dunkirk was among the organizations involved in putting the trail together. Trail Coordinator Marybeth Muldowney says she was "ecstatic" to see the project come to fruition...

The Discovery Way was also made possible with a grant from the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation. NCCF Community Engagement Coordinator Leslie Wille says it's a great example of what the community can do together...

KABOOM! and the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation also collaborated on the Discovery Way, which also had input from students at Dunkirk Intermediate School. The new playspace, according to Revitalize Dunkirk, blends play and nature exploration and will "inspire outdoor activity, imagination, and a stronger connection to nature."
