Dunkirk Farmers Market Opens for Season

The 2026 Dunkirk Farmers Market season is underway. The market will take place every Wednesday through October 14th, with hours from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM outside the Dunkirk Senior Center at 45 Cliffstar Court under the city's agrarian pavilion complex.

Roberto Fred Farms and Richard Feinen Farms will return to the market weekly; they offer a wide variety of vegetables, fruit, herbs, preserves, honey, and vegetable plants. Conklin Family Farms will also be returning this season to provide a wonderful assortment of beef, pork, eggs and select dairy products. Ma Baker is back offering their ever-popular breads, pastries, jams and dip mixes. Additionally, Sunshine Honey will be returning to the Market this season with their wonderful varieties of honeys including clover, goldenrod, basswood and locust. New to the Market this season is Enchanted Mountains Candle Company that will offer a lovely display of soy candles, wax melts, art prints and Blind Date with a Book gifts.

E.J. Hayes, the city's Deputy Director of Planning & Development, says the market will also feature the return of New York State Agriculture & Markets' FreshConnect Checks (FCC) Program. The program aims to expand access to fresh food in underserved communities to improve the diets of individuals in those communities and foster economic development. The FreshConnect Checks Program was designed to increase the purchasing power of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) customers while supporting local farmers in New York State. With FreshConnect Checks, you can double your money as the market offer a 100% percent match: for every $2 in SNAP, you get a $2 coupon up to $50 in coupons.

Edible food items permitted for purchase using SNAP benefits and FCC checks include, but are not limited to: fruits, vegetables, beef, fish, poultry, milk, cheese, yogurt, eggs, honey, maple syrup, seeds and plants that produce food, apple cider, juice, bread, pasta, etc. The Dunkirk Farmers Market also accepts EBT/SNAP benefits, WIC and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program benefits, and WIC VF checks.
