Jury Convicts Former Lakeview Inmate in February 2024 Assault of COs

A Chautauqua County Court jury has convicted a man from the New York City area on multiple felony charges in connection with an attack on multiple corrections officers at the Lakeview Correctional Facility. Jason Schmidt: injured three officers

Coleman was subsequently charged with four counts of 2nd-degree assault and two counts of 1st-degree promoting prison contraband. Schmidt says he will pursue the maximum sentence of 15 years in state prison due to Coleman's prior criminal record. Sentencing is scheduled for September 8th.
