A street check conducted on Jamestown's north side Saturday morning led to the arrest of two city women, including one sought on a warrant out of Pennsylvania. Jamestown Police were patrolling the area of East 8th Street shortly after 9:00 AM, when they saw 50-year-old Xiomara Mercado, who was wanted on a nationwide extraditable warrant out of the City of Warren. They saw Mercado go onto the porch of a nearby residence and tried to apprehend her. However, 45-year-old Zuleyka Fuentes-Cruz allegedly blocked their path to Mercado and obstructed their efforts. After a brief struggle, Mercado was taken into custody, along with Fuentes-Cruz. Mercado was charged with being a fugitive from justice and resisting arrest, while Fuentes-Cruz faces a charge of 2nd-degree obstruction. Both were taken to the Jamestown City Jail and held pending arraignment.
