Parts of Western New York could see a little bit of relief from the heat wave on Thursday. The National Weather Service in Buffalo says widely scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible during the late afternoon and evening hours. However, there's also a chance of a few isolated storms becoming severe, with the main risk being localized damaging wind gusts. The National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center has most of the region, including northern Chautauqua County, under a marginal severe weather risk.
